Associate Investigator, CREATE

Apunipima Cape York Health Council

Renee is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander woman from the Bindal people, Darnley (Erub) and Murray (Mer) Islands in the Torres Strait, and has strong family connections to Cherbourg in Queensland. She has a Masters of Public Health from Deakin University.

Renee moved to Melbourne in 1998, where she worked in both the clinical and administrative teams of the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service. Since then, she has worked with various other organisations, such as Secretariat of the National Aboriginal and Islander Child Care Inc., Foundation for Young Australians, Oxfam Australia, and the Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO). Renee was the Policy Manager and Closing the Gap Policy Officer at the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO), a position she recently left. Renee is currently a Senior Project Officer, Health Reform, at the Apunipima Cape York Health Council.
